Ultimate Mercy and Generosity without Discrimination

Day 85. 2021 Mar 24

Wash: We have awareness and concern on body disorder, dropping of physical strength, a sense of unfitness .. plus my days even started earlier this week, still had a sense of out of control as I dealt with alert messengers from US, IN team as the first activity of the day. I understand it could be necessary as we’re having a product release soon .. still I wondered if these tiny suboptimal daily choices are dragging my emotion .. as I observed a dropped level of hope and wellness in the morning, given we had good breakfast time together, great bed time together with my angel and positive changes in family calendar. I shouldn’t ignore all of this 1st signals of anxiety, worries .. not until it would drift me further from the way of Peace. I want to be changed, being wise in selecting the first activity of the day, be especially wise in period with tight deadline, learn from the current situation and do it better the next time. Also, fear no more. Accept whatever comes with my dive deep project. Instead of worry of it, enjoy my creativity and accept whatever the result is. I can plan only what I can do, let the Lord plan the outcome for me.

Thanksgiving: my kid and I cooked hot cake this morning and it was such a delighted experience for all of us. We had pho (Vietnamese rice noodle) as breakfast almost every morning this week, such a joyful moment and satisfied moment. I love the fact that we can gather together for a good and quality breakfast together. I am so grateful and I wish this last forever in this life.

Highlight in Psalm 37:21–31 ESV and Luke 6:12–36 ESV

  • keeping God’s law & our words (is the wisdom) establishes our paths: ‘the steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand .. the mouth of the righteous utters wisdom and his tongue speaks justice. the law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip’ v23,31
  • generosity leaves blessings to our children: ‘yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing .. the righteous (and generous) shall inherit the land and dwell upon it forever (children of the wicked shall be cut off’ v25,26,29
  • Jesus prayed hard before his action: ‘he (Jesus) went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when day came, he called his disciples and chosen from them twelve, whom he named apostles’ v12
  • Do good and be merciful even to our enemies: ‘But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also .. and lend, expecting nothing in return .. be merciful as your Father is merciful’ v27–36

The bar of ‘righteous-ness’ proclaimed by Jesus is way higher and sound impossible in human nature of self-protection: be generous, be wise, keeping the laws (in doing good) is not enough, we are meant to do the same for our enemies .. the ultimate act of mercy and generosity. Without the help from the law, who can even do this? Who would teach us lessons like these. The bar to be considered children of God is so high. Still, our HOPE is that our righteousness is up to mercy and generosity of the Father. Let us mimic this two foundation characteristic of God with the people in our circles: both “friends” and “enemies” without discrimination.
